Privacy policy

Last updated 13 June 2026

FormatMill is built so there is almost nothing to collect. Your files are processed entirely in your own browser. They are never uploaded to us, never sent to a server, and never stored anywhere outside your device. This page explains the little that does apply, in plain terms.

Your files

Every conversion, compression, resize, crop, and merge runs locally using code that your browser downloads and executes on your machine. We do not receive your files or their contents, and we have no way to see, keep, or recover them. When you close the tab, the files are gone from memory.

Personal data we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or any other personal detail to use the tools. We do not run our own analytics, and we do not build a profile of you. The one exception is advertising, which is described below.

Like almost any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (which can include your IP address and browser type) for a short period, purely to keep the service running and secure. These logs are not used to identify you or track your activity across the web.

Advertising

FormatMill is free and supported by advertising provided by Google AdSense. To show and measure ads, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies, and may collect data such as your IP address, device, and how you interact with ads. Google may use this to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.

To be clear, advertising is entirely separate from the tools. Ads never have access to your files. Your files are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded, whether or not ads are shown. The advertising described here concerns the website page you are on, not the files you convert.

You can control or opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

If you are in the UK, the EEA, or Switzerland, the law requires your consent before non-essential advertising cookies are set. Where required, we obtain that consent through a consent prompt before such cookies are used, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time.

Cookies

The site itself sets no cookies to track you. The only cookies and similar technologies come from Google AdSense, as described under Advertising above, and are used to serve and measure ads rather than by us to identify you.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have rights over your personal data, including access, correction, and erasure. Because we hold essentially no personal data about you, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or delete. If you have a question or a request, contact us at support@formatmill.com and we will help. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes, such as adding analytics or advertising, will be made clear before they take effect.
